Jagan to meet PM tomorrow: What's up?

In a sudden and swift development, YSR Congress party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy will be leaving for New Delhi on Wednesday afternoon to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

According to official sources, Jagan will hold a meeting of the state cabinet at Secretariat in the morning. Soon after the meeting, he will be travelling to New Delhi in a special flight.

He will have a meeting with the Prime Minister at around 4 pm to discuss various issues, including political situation in the state and the country.

Sources said Jagan might take up issues pertaining to decentralisation of administration by floating three capitals and also abolition of legislative council.

He is expected to request the Centre to see that the bill on abolition of legislative council be passed in the ongoing budget session of parliament itself.

“The issues like pending dues from the centre towards Polavaram project and other projects promised in the AP Reorganisation Act will also come up during the discussion,” sources said.

Though it is not confirmed, Jagan will also have a meeting with home minister Amit Shah to discuss various issues, including passage of council abolition.

There is also a talk doing rounds in the political circles that Modi may request Jagan’s support to the BJP in the backdrop of the Delhi elections and the possible consolidation of regional parties across the country.

“Modi might even invite Jagan to join the NDA government, if he wants., so that the state could benefit immensely,” sources said.
