Jagan permits CBI: Bad days ahead for Babu!

It looks like bad days are ahead for Telugu Desam Party president and former Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu for his alleged acts of omission and commission in the state.

The YSR Congress party government headed by Y S Jaganmohan Reddy has decided to grant general consent to the Central Bureau of Investigation and other central agencies like Enforcement Directorate and Income Tax department to conduct raids in the state as part of their investigation.

An official order to this effect is expected to be given on Monday or Tuesday. However, it came to light through a tweet of YSRC general secretary and Rajya Sabha member V Vijay Sai Reddy in the morning.

“Chandrababu launched a big agitation saying nobody should question him for doing whatever he wanted. He banned CBI, stalled Income Tax department raids and fumed at Enforcement Directorate. But now, Jagan issued orders allowing the CBI into the state, thereby making it clear that he will not spare the thieves. Are you listening, Chandrababu? ” he asked.

In November last, Naidu government had issued orders, withdrawing general consent given to all the members of the Delhi Special Police Establishment to exercise the powers and jurisdiction under the said Act in the state of Andhra Pradesh.

The CBI functions under the Delhi Special Police Establishment Act.

Now with Jagan decided to reverse Naidu’s order, it is presumed that the CBI will be used to trouble the TDP president by implicating him in corrupt cases and throw him behind the bars.
