Jagan, Naidu to be in New Delhi on Saturday

Perhaps for the first time, YSR Congress party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy and his arch rival – Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu would be in the national capital of New Delhi on Saturday.

However, the chances of the two political enemies seeing eye to eye with each other in the capital city, as both of them would be leaving at different timings and attending different meetngs.

As reported earlier, Naidu got an invitation from the Centre to attend the meeting of the national committee on Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav to be held at Rashtrapathi Bhavan Cultural Centre. The meeting will be chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

This is the first time that Naidu will be going to Delhi after a gap of three years. He has never got an opportunity to attend the meeting convened by the Prime Minister since he lost power in Andhra Pradesh in 2019.

It is not immediately known whether he will get an opportunity to meet Modi one-on-one. But as per the schedule, Naidu would be returning to Hyderabad on the same night.

On the other hand, Jagan will be going to New Delhi on a two-day visit. He will fly to the capital in the evening and might have a meeting with the Prime Minister, besides Union ministers Nirmala Sitaraman and Gajendra Singh Shekhawat.

Jagan will stay back in Delhi on August 7 to attend the Niti Aayog meeting, where he might raise the issues of special category status and Polavaram funding, besides Centre’s undue interference in state financial matters.
