It appears YSR Congress party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy is not going to commence the operations of his office from Visakhapatnam from Dasara festival, as announced earlier.
Senior YSRC leader and party in-charge of north-Andhra districts Y V Subba Reddy hinted that Jagan might move to Visakhapatnam from November or December, since there are many things pending completion.
“It is not just the chief minister, but his cabinet colleagues and officials have also to move to Visakhapatnam and we have to look for accommodation for offices and residences,” he said.
Subba Reddy pointed out that a committee has been appointed for the purpose and it will examine all the arrangements, before giving its report. Based on the committee’s report, arrangements would be made for the officials and ministers, he said.
Even senior minister from north Andhra Botsa Satyanaryana said there was no hurry in shifting to Viskhapatnam.
“There is no need for any backdoor arrangements for the capital shift. We shall do it right royally,” he said.
Apparently, the Jagan government has been given the impression that even the latest government order issued by the chief secretary to shift the camp office to Visakhapatnam in the name of review and monitoring of the welfare and development programmes in Uttarandhra (North Andhra) districts may also be challenged in the court.
The GO said the he chief minister would camp at Visakhapatnam to review these programmes with ministers, senior officers and district officials, so that decisions taken are communicated to field level functionaries, quickly.
“This necessitates setting up of the camp office for the Chief Minister and accommodation for supporting senior functionaries, including special chief secretary to government (municipal administration and urban development), special chief secretary to government (finance); and secretary to government (services and human resources management) and General Administration Department (GAD),” the order said.
Apparently, some Amaravati farmers’ leaders are planning to challenge this latest GO in the court. So, Jagan thought it is better to wait for the development in Supreme Court which posted the case to November.
