YSR Congress party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy on Thursday asserted that his government would make all out efforts to save the lives of the people during the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic.

“Every life is valuable and I know it better than anybody else. I was deeply pained over the death of people due to shock after the death of my father late Dr Y S Rajasekhar Reddy. I took out Odarpu Yatra and consoled every bereaved family,” Jagan said, while replying to the debate on the Governor’s Address in the assembly on Thursday.

He said in the last two years, he had taken every step keeping in view the welfare of each and every citizen.

He announced setting up of village clinics all over the state and said an auxiliary nursing midwife (ANM) was appointed for every 2,000 people.

“We have made revolutionary changes in Arogya Sri and ensured that ambulances arrive within 20 minutes of a phone call. Since I know the value of a life, Covid-19 and black fungus cases were included under Arogya Sri,” he claimed.

Jagan reminded that his government had launched as many as 1,180 ambulances at a time.

“We are conducting not less than one lakh Covid-19 tests every day. We have transformed the hospitals under Nadu-Nedu programme,” he said.

Though there were no super-speciality hospitals in Andhra Pradesh as was the case with Bengaluru and Hyderabad, the government was taking all steps to ensure that maximum number of patients were getting treatment for Covid-19 in the existing hospitals by spending Rs 2,229 crore, he added.
