Senior Telugu Desam Party leader and former MLA S V S N Varma, who sacrificed his Pithapuram Assembly seat for Jana Sena Party president and deputy chief minister Pawan Kalyan, has begun raising concerns about alleged illegal activities by Jana Sena leaders—creating tension within the TDP-Jana Sena alliance.
Varma is reportedly frustrated at not being rewarded with any official post, while Pawan Kalyan’s brother, Nagababu, was nominated to the Legislative Council (MLC) and is even being considered for a ministerial berth.
Adding to his frustration is Pawan Kalyan’s induction of former YSRCP leaders into Jana Sena — leaders who once worked against Varma during previous elections.
In particular, the induction of former MLA Pendem Dorababu has deeply angered Varma. In response, he has started voicing serious concerns about issues such as illegal sand mining in the constituency.
Over the past few days, Varma has been openly criticizing illegal sand mining allegedly backed by Jana Sena leaders and expressing displeasure at the police's inaction, even in spite of Pawan Kalyan’s public directives.
Though Varma has stopped short of naming individuals, he has been indirectly criticizing the Jana Sena leadership over corruption and favoritism.
Political analysts believe this is a calculated move to assert his presence without openly challenging Pawan.
Observers suggest that Varma’s increasing discontent and public statements may lead to further political friction within the alliance, potentially escalating into a larger conflict in Pithapuram in the coming weeks.
