Atchan, Nimmala won't get mike to speak in assembly!

If Andhra Pradesh assembly speaker Tammineni Sitaram has his way, Telugu Desam Party’s deputy floor leader K Atchannaidu and another senior TDP legislator Nimmala Ramanaidu would not get the opportunity to speak on the floor of the House in the coming assembly session.

A decision to this effect was taken at the privileges committee meeting of the state legislative assembly headed by YSRC MLA from Sarvepalli Kakani Goverdhan Reddy on Tuesday.

The committee decided that Atchannaidu and Ramanaidu would not be allowed to speak in the assembly till the session is completed as they had personally abused chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy on the floor of the House, besides making derogatory comments against the speaker.

TDP member of the privileges committee Anagani Satyaprasad strongly opposed the decision taken by the committee members against Atchannaidu and Ramanaidu.

He reminded that Ramanaidu had reacted only when the chief minister called him “Drama Naidu.” He challenged Kakani to check assembly records before making such a drastic recommendation.

The privileges committee would send the recommendation of not giving mike to Atchannaidu and Ramanaidu to the speaker to take an appropriate decision.

If Tammineni takes a decision in tune with the recommendation of the panel, he would make an announcement denying mike to the two TDP leaders.

The committee also examined the letters given by former state election commissioner Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar and former TDP MLA Kuna Ravi Kumar. They would be forwarded to the Speaker with the committee’s recommendations shortly.

Last week, Atchannaidu appeared before the privileges committee following summons from Kakani to give his explanation on the comments he had made against the Speaker.

Atchannaidu apologised for his comments on the speaker and said he was withdrawing the media statement.
