Another Jagan loyalist to quit YSRCP?

Another Jagan loyalist to quit YSRCP?

If reports circulating in Andhra Pradesh political circles are to be believed, yet another loyalist of YSR Congress Party president and former Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy is contemplating leaving the party in the near future.

Following the YSRCP’s defeat in the 2024 elections, several influential figures — including Rajya Sabha MPs, MLCs, and close associates of Jagan — have either distanced themselves or formally quit the party.

According to recent reports, former minister and Jagan’s close aide Vellampalli Srinivas is reportedly preparing to exit the YSRCP.

Vellampalli, who previously served as the Endowments Minister under Jagan and lost from Vijayawada Central in the 2024 elections, is said to have become inactive in party affairs.

Vellampalli began his political career with the Praja Rajyam Party, later moved to the BJP, and eventually joined the YSRCP.

In 2019, he won from Vijayawada Central and was inducted into the cabinet. Though he lost his ministerial post during a cabinet reshuffle, he remained active in the party.

In the 2024 elections, he was reportedly reluctant to contest from Vijayawada Central but was fielded on Jagan’s insistence — only to lose the seat.

With the BJP winning from his home constituency of Vijayawada West, political analysts believe Vellampalli is now reassessing his political future.

Given his past association with BJP leader P V N Madhav — now the BJP’s state president — Vellampalli is reportedly exploring a return to the party.

Sources say he recently held discussions with BJP leaders in Hyderabad, and speculation is mounting that his re-entry into the BJP is all but confirmed.

An official announcement is expected soon.
