Andhra Cabinet meeting at Vizag on Dec 27?

The crucial cabinet meeting to be chaired by YSR Congress party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy to approve the recommendations of the G N Rao committee on the capital issue is likely to be held at Visakhapatnam on December 27.

According to sources, Jagan has instructed the officials to make arrangements for the cabinet meeting at Visakhapatnam, where a comprehensive action plan for shifting of administrative capital from Amaravati would also be discussed and approved.

Sources said there is a possibility that the shifting process would begin after Sankranti festivities. However, it would not be done in a hurry, but would take at least a couple of months.

In the meantime, the government would complete the exercise of identifying the buildings for the secretariat and other office complexes and sprucing them for accommodating the offices.

After taking the decision at the cabinet, Jagan would hold a series of discussion with the employees of the Secretariat and other heads of departments, to identify the practical problems to be faced by them and come out with solutions.

At the same time, Jagan would also work out a plan of action for the farmers of Amaravati region so that they would call off their agitations.

“All the promises made to the farmers would be fulfilled in Amaravati by developing their lands. We shall transform the entire area into an educational hub, so that their land values would go up,” a minister said.
