Actor Kamal Haasan’s upcoming film Thug Life has found itself at the center of controversy ahead of its release.
While the recently launched trailer has received a largely positive response, a brief lip-lock scene between Kamal and actress Abhirami has sparked mixed reactions among viewers.
Addressing the issue in a recent interview, Abhirami said, “I asked director Mani Ratnam why he cast me in this role. I always respect my filmmakers’ decisions, and I performed the scene willingly. It appears in just three shots. There’s a lot of misunderstanding because of that short clip, but I believe opinions will change once people see the full film. I don’t think this topic will continue after the release. Honestly, there’s no need to dwell on it. I urge everyone to watch the film before making judgments.”
Directed by Mani Ratnam, Thug Life features an ensemble cast including Trisha, Simbu, Aishwarya Lekshmi, and Nassar. With music by AR Rahman, the film is slated for a grand theatrical release on June 5, 2025.
