Mass Jathara, which hit the screens today, has recorded extremely poor collections everywhere.
At Prasads Multiplex, the 5:30 PM show, which is the first show in the region, did not even go houseful, with many tickets still available.
The situation for the subsequent shows is even more dismal. Several theatres are in a shocking condition with zero openings, potentially indicating the cancellation of shows.
The advance bookings for the next day are also disappointing, with almost all theatres showing availability, meaning no demand.
While the domestic response is poor, the situation in the USA is even worse, with negligible bookings reported.
Overall, what could be the reason for this nightmare? While some attribute it to the outdated trailer that lacked a strong hook, others believe the film is suffering from the impact of Baahubali: The Epic, which released just before it.
“The film buffs, who religiously give openings to every new film, already got tired watching four hours of Baahubali: The Epic. They hardly find the energy to watch Mass Jathara immediately after. That is evident from the poor openings,” says a theatre owner.
“The trailer of Mass Jathara was unimpressive. Such outdated content does not match today’s audience taste, and that is clearly reflected in its opening collections,” says another exhibitor.
Whatever the reason may be, unless the film receives an extraordinary theatrical response, the fate of Mass Jathara looks frightening.
