It's been 18 years since Mega Powerstar Ram Charan stepped onto the silver screen with his blockbuster debut, Chirutha, released in 2007.
In a film industry where family background often helps people get started, Charan, the son of Megastar Chiranjeevi, was expected to shine.
But his success didn’t just come from being born into a star's family. Over time, he worked hard, chose strong roles, and proved his talent. Today, he is known not just as a star’s son but as a global star in his own right.
Chirutha, directed by Puri Jagannadh, was more than just a successful launchpad, earning him the Filmfare Award for Best Male Debut South and the Nandi Special Jury Award.
However, he scored industry with his very second movie, Magadheera, directed by SS Rajamouli. It’s a rare feat for any actor, and the record remained unbroken for years.
The subsequent commercial hits like Racha, Naayak, Yevadu, and Dhruva cemented his status as one of the biggest stars in the industry.
If the first phase of his career was defined by star-power, the second was marked by his transformation as an actor. The 2018 film, Rangasthalam, proved to be a pivotal turning point.
The crescendo of his 18-year journey arrived with RRR (2022). His portrayal of the intense, conflicted freedom fighter Alluri Seetha Rama Raju was a performance for the ages, earning him international acclaim and projecting him onto the global stage.
Beyond acting, Charan has also excelled as a producer, establishing Konidela Production Company in 2016, which successfully backed high-profile films like Khaidi No. 150 and Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy.
As he looks forward to his most ambitious project yet, Peddi, Ram Charan is not just honouring a legacy, but he is actively forging his own path.
Wishing Charan the completion of his 18-year journey, Megastar Chiranjeevi stated, "As a father, I always feel proud of you. With the love of the Telugu audience and the blessings of the Almighty, I wish for you to scale many more heights. May success always be with you!"
The makers of Peddi released a new poster on this special occasion. It sees Ram Charan in a raw, rugged, yet stylish look, holding a backpack, as he stands on the railway track while smoking a beedi.
