The makers initially announced that OG had completed its censor formalities and was awarded a U/A certificate with a few suggested cuts.
Soon after, advance bookings opened, and by September 25, nearly 80% of tickets in major centers were already sold out.
However, the scenario has now changed. The censor board removed 1 minute 55 seconds of footage, but the unit did not agree to further cuts. As a result, the film has been given an A certificate.
These days, A certificates are quite common, so that’s not the real issue.
The problem is that tickets were already sold under the U/A category, and many families booked seats planning to bring children along.
With the film now restricted to adults, multiplexes — at least some of them — are strictly enforcing rules and not allowing kids inside. This could lead to ticket cancellations in certain theaters.
Along with the certificate, censor reports about the film have also surfaced. True to current trends, the movie is said to be high on violence.
Scenes of Pawan Kalyan slashing with a sword, leading to heads flying and hands getting chopped, were reportedly trimmed.
One sequence in a lodge, featuring an intense action block, was also heavily cut. Even so, the film couldn’t avoid the A rating.
