Veteran actor Nagarjuna Akkineni believes that while Tollywood is currently enjoying a golden phase, a downturn is inevitable.
Drawing from his decades-long career, Nagarjuna says that film industries naturally go through cycles of highs and lows.
“Right now, Bollywood might be going through a low phase, and Tollywood is at its peak. But this won’t last forever. It’s all cyclical,” he noted.
Reflecting on the past, he added, “In my career, I’ve seen at least three instances when Tollywood hit rock bottom — when none of the Telugu films worked, and other industries were thriving. But we always bounced back. I believe a fourth such phase is approaching.”
Nagarjuna hinted that early signs of a slump are already visible, suggesting that the industry may soon face a crisis. However, he remains optimistic.
“Every time we fall, we come back stronger. These downturns pave the way for innovation and fresh energy. It’s part of the industry’s evolution,” he concluded.
