Mirai Faces Tough Challenges in the Hindi Market

Mirai Faces Tough Challenges in the Hindi Market

“Mirai” is well on its way to becoming a super hit, with impressive collections on its first day.

The second-day box office performance surpassed expectations, outperforming Day 1, and Hyderabad in particular recorded sensational numbers despite heavy rains.

However, the film is struggling in the crucial Hindi market.

The biggest hurdle for “Mirai” remains sustaining momentum in North India. After the strong performance of the Telugu version, the makers had high hopes for the Hindi release.

Bollywood producer Karan Johar joined hands for Hindi promotions, with his company handling the Hindi release on a commission basis.

But the Hindi version opened with just ₹1.65 crore on Day 1, and the second day is expected to bring in around ₹2 crore. This puts the projected first weekend collection at around ₹6 crore, which is considered underwhelming.

For context, “HanuMan” collected a whopping ₹13.5 crore in its first weekend.

Sustaining audience interest in the Hindi belt remains a critical challenge for Mirai in the coming days.
