March Box Office Review: Magic Missed

March Box Office Review: Magic Missed

In March of last year, there was an epic blockbuster called RRR, and the previous year saw the release of another big hit called Jathi Ratnalu. However, this year, the magic failed to repeat itself in March.

The month started off with a promising opening with the release of Balagam, a small movie that managed to captivate the audience with its story set in Telangana and centered around death. Venu, who was known as a comedian, made his directorial debut with this film, and it finally earned the superhit tag.

Another movie that was released alongside Balagam was Organic Mama Hybrid Alludu, which was directed by SV Krishna Reddy after a long gap. However, this movie failed to impress due to its bad comedy and unimpressive story. Other movies that were released around the same time, such as Granthalayam, Rishi Gadi Pelli, and In Car, also flopped.

In the second weekend, RRR was re-released to cash in on the Oscar craze, but it failed to make a significant impact. Adi Saikumar's CSI Sanatan was a flop, along with other movies released on the same day, such as Mr. Kalyan and Dochevarevaru.

The third week saw the release of Kabza and Phalana Abbayi Phalana Ammayi. Kabza was inspired by KGF in its making but failed to impress audiences and was widely criticized for its fake collections. The movie Phalana Abbayi Phalana Ammayi, starring Naga Shaurya and Avasarala, also failed to make an impact.

In the fourth week, Rangamarthanda and Das Ka Dhamki competed for attention. Rangamarthanda, directed by Krishnavamsi, received critical acclaim but failed to perform well in theaters. Vishwak Sen starrer Das Ka Dhamki had huge openings due to its hype and became Vishwak's biggest opener to date. It managed to break even and was considered a hit. However, the movie Geeta Sakshiga released that week was a flop.

To conclude the month of March, the movie Dasara was released. This mass entertainer starring Nani received huge openings on its first day, but its true range will be revealed in the coming weeks. Other movies released that week, such as Parari, Satyam Vatha Dharmam Chera, Veerakhadgam, and Agent Narasimha, all flopped.

Overall, 25 movies were released in March, but only Balagam and Das Ka Dhamki were considered hits. The success of Dasara remains to be seen in April.
