The biopic on evergreen actress Savitri 'Mahanati' has won National award. The 66th National Film Awards were announced shortly and 'Mahanati' bagged the Best Film in Telugu.
'Mahanati' was written and directed by Nag Ashwin and Keerthy Suresh played the role of Savitri.
The film was a blockbuster and also won several international awards already. This national recognition is yet another feather in the hat.
Also 'Mahanati' won an award on costume-designing. Being a biopic, extreme care is taken on the costumes of the film which have the retro appeal.
The other Telugu films that won national awards in various categories are 'Rangasthalam' 'Chi-La-Sow' and 'AWE.'
