Kantara: A Legend Chapter 1 is rewriting box office history. After a thunderous opening day with ₹61.85 Cr India net, the Rishab Shetty starrer showed remarkable hold on its second day, adding another ₹45 Cr (early estimates) across all languages.
Despite being a regular working Friday, the Kannada period mythological action drama witnessed only a 27–30% drop, proving its strong audience pull.
With this, the film’s two-day India net total stands at an astounding ₹104.85–106.85 Cr, officially entering the coveted ₹100 Crore Club in just 48 hours.
This is a new record for Sandalwood. The original Kantara took 17 days to cross the ₹100 Cr milestone, while its prequel has achieved the same feat in just two days.
Social media is already calling it “unimaginable” and “the new benchmark for Kannada cinema.”
Produced by Hombale Films, Kantara Chapter 1 is not just ruling Karnataka but is also holding strong in the Telugu and Hindi markets, challenging biggies like They Call Him OG and Jolly LLB 3.
With two more days left in the extended opening weekend, trade circles predict a massive storm ahead at the box office.
