Dulquer Salmaan’s Tamil-Telugu bilingual Kaantha produced by the actor himself on Wayfarer Films Pvt Ltd, with the backing of Rana’s Spirit Media is gearing up for release.
Directed by Selvamani Selvaraj, the movie stars Samuthirakani and Bhagyashri Borse portraying other lead roles.
Wishing Dulquer Salmaan on his birthday, the makers unleashed the film’s teaser, which gives insights into the core storyline.
Kaantha tells a tale of ambition, betrayal, and the reclaiming of identity in the cinematic world of old Madras.
What began as a story titled Shaantha, originally conceived by a writer-director named Ayya, was reshaped by an ambitious actor named Chandran, transforming the film into Kaantha. In doing so, he not only changed the name but redirected its focus, distorting the original vision of a female-centric horror narrative.
Kaantha blends rich storytelling with a meticulously recreated period atmosphere. The teaser highlights the film’s stunning visuals, courtesy of cinematographer Dani Sanchez Lopez and art director Tha. Ramalingam, while Jhanu Chanthar’s haunting score adds to the mood.
Dulquer Salmaan looked fierce as a rising superstar, while Samuthirakani is equally exceptional as a leading filmmaker. Despite sharing the screen with powerhouse performers, Bhagyashri Borse carves out her own space.
As the film races towards its theatrical release on September 12th, the teaser with thrilling and riveting narrative has certainly set good expectations for Kaantha.
