Vivek Agnihotri recently reflected on his difficult experience directing Dhan Dhana Dhan Goal (2007), subtly criticizing John Abraham’s performance without naming him directly.
He took aim at the Bollywood star system, saying it often relies on the “limited capabilities” of some actors.
Vivek claimed the lead actor was chosen for his athletic look but lacked the on-screen presence required, to the point that facial expressions and football sequences had to be shot separately.
“When actors ask for shorter dialogues, you have to wonder why they’re being paid crores if they can’t even deliver lines properly,” he remarked.
He also hinted that tensions during the shoot were worsened by the breakup between John and Bipasha Basu. Agnihotri is currently promoting his upcoming film The Bengal Files.
