The entire Telugu world was rocked by the developments following Pawan Kalyan’s speech at the pre-release event of Republic.
Invited as the Chief Guest to the event, Pawan Kalyan chose to make it a podium for scoring some brownie points, politically. This is against proper convention and the Power Star once again showed some serious lack of tact.
On the one hand, the film’s hero Sai Dharam Tej was hospitalized following an unfortunate accident and wasn’t available to promote his movie.
Therefore, the producers of Republic and the director might have hoped that Pawan’s presence at the event would generate good buzz and thereby openings for their project.
Needless to say, after the Jana Sena Chief’s address and Posani’s tirade, everybody lost sight of Republic.
Politics took center stage and with heated arguments from politicians and industry folks alike, there was 24/7 entertainment for the public to the extent that Republic did not figure in the scheme of things.
Reportedly, the film had openings far below expectations which might not have been the case had Pawan Kalyan stuck to merely promoting the film and cast and saying a few good words about them.
Sadly, that did not turn out to be the case and Republic had to pay for it.
