Big Banners Say 'No' To Small Films

Big Banners Say 'No' To Small Films

Following the post-COVID era, smaller films such as 'Jati Ratnalu' and 'DJ Tillu' saw considerable success, driven by the income from OTT rights along with theatrical collection.

Looking at that some major production houses shifted towards smaller projects, but this trend eventually changed as films like those from the banners like Geetha, Mythri, Swapna Cinemas, and Sitara failed at the box office.

Despite this, substantial non-theatrical earnings cushioned the impact for these prominent banners.

But now, even OTT companies are cautious in buying small films though they come from big banners. This shift prompted the reevaluation of major banners' involvement in smaller projects.

In this context, it appears that one significant production house has opted to phase out smaller films.

While they have numerous films in their pipeline, release dates remain uncertain.

Consequently, their intention seems to be completing existing projects before concentrating solely on a select big range of films.

The traditional strategy of promoting smaller films alongside a blockbuster seems outdated now, making small and mid-range films a riskier venture. This decision reflects the changing landscape of the industry.
