'Animal' Reviews: Ratings Ranging From 1 To 4

The highly anticipated film "Animal," featuring Ranbir Kapoor and Rashmika, directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, is released today and has garnered mixed reviews.

Feedback varies from 1/5 to 4/5, indicating a significant divide among the audience – some liked it, while others disliked it.

Despite the numerous reviews on websites, media houses, and social media accounts, we have selected a few to illustrate the diverse range of opinions on the film "Animal."

Ruthless Ranbir Goes For The Kill - (NDTV Rating: 1.5/5)

The man behind Arjun Reddy and Kabir Singh isn't looking to play nice in Animal either....At three hours 21 minutes, Animal is relentless as a euphoric medley of feral rage and dance of the dysfunctional. The twists go on well until end credits as more blood is splattered our way.

Ranbir Kapoor aces deranged character in this derailed family drama - Rediff Rating: 4/5

Through an exhausting runtime of 3 hours, 21 minutes, comprising extreme bloodshed, testosterone and blatant misogyny, writer-director Sandeep Reddy Vanga, known for his controversial statements and thoughts, glorifies the alpha male once again through his Godfather-esque tale.

Ranbir suffers in twisted paean to masculinity - (TOI Rating: 2.5/5)

Animal had the chance to claw out a fresh, psychology-driven path for Hindi action movies, at a juncture when it’s challenged (and frequently outstripped) by superior products from the South. The raw, lacerating violence that Vanga promised his critics, he hardly delivers. Like many before him, he seems more tempted by franchise potential than telling a controlled, coherent story. “Confidence is a medicine but...,” a doctor tries to tell Ranvijay. She can’t finish her sentence. He has already shut her off.

Ranbir is stellar in problematic, paper-thin film - (Indian Express Rating: 1/5)

After watching two films by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, you have an idea what you are getting into when you go in for the third one. In fact, the director had promised at the trailer launch that people would deem 'Animal' more problematic than even 'Arjun Reddy' and 'Kabir Singh'. Unfortunately, Vanga over-delivers on his promise. Because 'Animal', in several places, is misogynistic.

Ranbir aces deranged character - Rediff (4/5)

In a lengthy 3-hour, 21-minute runtime filled with excessive violence, testosterone, and blatant misogyny, Sandeep Reddy Vanga, known for his controversial views, once again celebrates the alpha male in his Godfather-inspired tale.

'Animal' heavily leans on Ranbir Kapoor's talent and star power. His raw sex appeal and intense performance are the film's highlights, drawing you into his troubled mind with blood-soaked eyes filled with rage.

While Ranbir Kapoor can match Joaquin Phoenix's depth, 'Animal' doesn't reach 'Joker' status. The film might have thrived as a simple conversation between a father and his son, allowing for a more nuanced exploration of their relationship.

On a whole, the public talk is divided where a netizen mentioned, "This is a tiresome watch. This could have been made in two parts. Just because of its unbearable length which taxed my energies, I would rate this film 1.5/5".

Another social media post suggests, "The film could have had two intervals. The audience would have appreciated this rare treat of two breaks. Otherwise, the film is loud and extreme, which may be liked by a specific set of audience. But certainly, this is not my type. There are no surprises."

Here is another peculiar post on social media by a netizen- "I hated the film, but I feel it works at the box office. My personal rating in 1/5, but for the box office expectation, I would rate at 3/5".

Finally, the film "Animal" will need to make an impact at the box office despite these mixed reviews. We will have to see how well it performs in terms of collections.
