The stage is almost set for the release of Akhanda 2. Except for one issue that could affect the overseas release, everything is ready for the film to arrive on the 12th.
The biggest obstacle for the release; the pending dues issue with Eros; was reportedly settled out of court last night. This out-of-court settlement now needs to be formally conveyed to the court.
Once the court issues a No Objection, the team will announce the new release date at an appropriate time.
While the producers can technically release the film whenever they wish, fans, distributors, and exhibitors are putting strong pressure to release Akhanda 2 on December 12 itself.
They believe the film has unexpectedly gained huge buzz, and want the makers to take advantage of this momentum.
Social media is even more intense; fans are refusing to accept any date other than the 12th.
However, releasing on the 12th presents a challenge for the overseas market. Theatres abroad find it difficult to plan screenings at such short notice. Because of this single issue, the final decision has been paused.
Other than that, a December 12 release with premieres on the 11th is almost locked.
