2021 Roundup: Biggest Duds At The Box Office

Technically, the flops are the films that fail to make breakeven and end up in losses. So, here in this list, the films that incurred high investments but faced severe losses are considered.

1. Mahasamudram: This is the film that was made by Ajay Bhupathi of RX100 fame. As per the industry sources the director took quite a long time to finalize the story line and narrate to different heroes.

Finally, this was landed at Sharwanand and Siddharth on the banner of Anil Sunkara. Though there were expectations on this film considering the track record of Ajay Bhupathi with his first film, this failed to hook the attention of the audience.

The budget incurred on this film is very high owing to the pandemic intervals and the making requirements. The film ended up as the biggest debacle of the year.

2. Check: Starring Nithin in the direction of Chandrasekhar Yeleti, this film made the eyes of film lovers focus on it. The director is known for his intelligent stories and screenplays.

Though the director intended to narrate a story based on a chess game and a crime story, this couldn't hold the interest of the audience. This is the second film in the list that incurred big investments but failed to make ROI.

3. Alludu Adurs: This is the shocking dud of the year made with a huge budget but died at the box office in the first weekend itself.

Directed by Santhosh Srinivas with Bellamkonda Srinivas and Nabha Natesh as the lead pair, this failed to entice the audience.

The old fashioned narration and the predictable beaten track pulp marred the interest of the audience in theaters. Finally this film laid a huge burden of loss on the banner of Sumanth Movie Productions.

4. Kondapolam: This is another film that was given a color of classic until its release. Based on an award winning Telugu novel with the same title, the film was made by director Krish.

The kind of budget incurred on this film appears to be small on screen, but the ROI is pretty low and finally this film ended up as a flop for Vaishnav Tej.

So, the hero is part of the biggest hit of the year 'Uppena' and a top flop 'Kondapolam'.

5. Mosagallu: Manchu Vishnu produced this film in four languages. This was based on a real story based on a huge financial fraud in India. Kajal acted as the sister to Vishnu.

The producer said that he spent a huge budget of Rs 50 Cr on making the film. But finally, the collections were miserable and declared as a thumbs down on the second day itself.

So, considering the kind of budget incurred as stated by the producer and the ROI, the film stands in this list here.
