Sai Pallavi and Dhanush had a disappointing weekend, with both stars delivering major flops in their respective markets.
Sai Pallavi’s maiden Bollywood outing Ek Din was outright rejected by Hindi audiences.
Despite decent promotions, the film failed to make an impact, collecting less than ₹5 crore in its opening weekend. It now ranks among the lowest-opening films in recent Bollywood history.
Dhanush also faced a similar setback with Kara, which released in Tamil and Telugu. The film registered shockingly low openings in Tamil Nadu and was completely rejected in the Telugu states.
While his previous film Idly Kadai had already underperformed, Kara appears to be a total washout.
Reports suggest that even Sunday collections were negligible in several centres across Tamil Nadu, highlighting the scale of its failure.
Though last weekend’s Telugu releases also failed to take off, the poor performance of films headlined by stars like Sai Pallavi and Dhanush has come as a bigger shock to the industry, as even their presence could not bring in respectable box office numbers.
