Veteran actor Mammootty has reacted to the mixed response to his latest film Patriot for the first time, speaking at the film’s Gulf release event in Dubai.

Addressing the audience, he said viewers should not depend entirely on reviews or public opinion while choosing films. He encouraged people to trust their own judgement and personal taste.

“We are living in a time where privacy is slowly disappearing, and Patriot deals with this important subject,” he said.

Mammootty also acknowledged that films will always receive varied reactions.

“There will be different opinions — good, bad, or somewhere in between. Everyone has the right to express their views. But in the end, you should form your own opinion. Films are made with the intention of being enjoyed by all,” he added.

His comments come as the film continues to receive mixed feedback from audiences and critics.

Patriot, starring Mohanlal and Mammootty, opened with a net collection of ₹9.8 crore on Day 1 and added ₹6.15 crore on Day 2, taking its India net total to ₹16.15 crore.

Overseas, the film collected around ₹15 crore on its second day, pushing the total overseas gross to ₹31.5 crore. With domestic numbers included, the worldwide gross now stands at approximately ₹50.23 crore.

Directed by Mahesh Narayanan, the spy-action drama also features Fahadh Faasil, Kunchacko Boban, Nayanthara, Revathi, Darshana Rajendran, and Rajiv Menon in key roles.
