Trade Talk: Is 'Uppena' Setting A National Record?

Trade Talk: Is 'Uppena' Setting A National Record?

Uppena seems to be setting a new record. The film may become the highest ever grosser for a debut hero in India.

It was long ago in the year 2000 that Hrithik Roshan's debut "Kaho Na Pyar Hai" made a whopping collection of Rs 80 Cr those days.

Well, Rs 80 Cr of year 2000 will be around Rs 400 Cr in the year 2021. That's a different matter.

Similar feat is going to happen for Vaisshnav Tej's "Uppena '' as per the trade sources. So far the film made Rs 70 Cr gross by the end of first week from theatres.

The collections are still good and the makers are confident that a Rs 100 Cr gross is a cake walk for this film. That way, it can beat Kaho Na Pyar Hai figures wise.

In the wave of "Uppena", Jagapathi Babu's "FCUK" has gone with the wind. Audiences have branded it as a dull, tacky and senseless film.

The openings were pretty bad for this film and by the evening of the release day, many theaters have recorded emptiness.

Generally Sankranthi releases make huge collections and the February films prove to be dull. But this time, the February box office is making merry.

The lifted norms and restrictions at the movie theaters has also added to the better patronize from the audiences.
