Three Million Dollars: New Club in Tollywood

Three Million Dollars: New Club in Tollywood

Club of $1 million dollar is passe. To get one million dollars is an important achievement for small and medium range movies but for a big star movie, even securing 2 million dollars is not a major accomplishment.

Joining the club of three million dollars is the new target for big stars.

Ram Charan's "Rangasthalam" set the ball rolling. While "Baahubali" movies are on another level (Baahubali 1 - $6.99 million & Baahubali 2 -$20.05 million), "Rangasthalam" proved that achieving three million dollars is not tough task provided right content and good buzz. Also reviews and word-of-mouth should be positive.

"Rangasthalam" is now on the verge of crossing $3.5 million mark. Cumulative gross stands at $3,494,988 ($3.49 million) as on April 29.

On the other hand, Mahesh Babu's "Bharat Ane Nenu" in its second weekend performed well despite the huge competition from "Avengers". Its cumulative gross now stands at $3,150,078 ($3.15 million).

Apart from "Rangasthalam" and Mahesh Babu's "Bharat Ane Nenu", Rajinikanth's "Kabali" grossed more than $3 million. So, it is a target for all the leading stars of Tollywood and Kollywood now.
