Mahesh Babu Set to Beat Chiru's Record

Summer holidays and lack of competition from other biggies can make wonders to a big star hero’s film.

Despite getting low ratings from critics, Allu Arjun’s “Sarrainodu”, which released in April 2016, went on to become number one hit in his career.

Similarly, Mahesh Babu’s “Maharshi” received mixed talk and pretty average ratings but the film has now crossed Rs 101 Cr share. This is fifth Telugu film to achieve the feat.

“Maharshi” in its fifth week’s run has crossed Rs 100 Cr mark worldwide, though Mahesh Babu’s fans have last week declared this feat.

The film is short of crossing Megastar Chiranjeevi’s “Khaidi No 150” lifetime collections. It needs another Rs 1 Cr share to beat Chiranjeevi’s record.

The film has crossed Rs 30 Cr mark in Nizam and thereby became all-time third highest grossing movie in this region after “Baahubali” movies.

As things stand today, “Baahubali 2” and “Baahubali” are the top two highest grossers in Tollywood’s history.

The third place goes to “Rangasthalam” which collected Rs 120 Cr worldwide. “Maharshi” will become fourth biggest hit later this week.
