Public Talk: Tamilians On Rajini’s Political Entry

Finally the man has spoken. It is nearly 15 years since one topic was hanging in midair in Tamil Nadu, it is the topic of Super Star Rajinikanth entering into politics and changing the face of the Tamil people.

After playing cat on the wall for a long time, the superstar himself announced in front of the media about his political debut.

As has been the case with many film stars before him, Rajini came up with certain explosive statements about his entry. Meanwhile, this is what the real Makkal (People in Tamil) have to say –

“What is the use of him entering into politics now? Except helping BJP and creating another vote bank split Rajini’s entry is of no big significance” – Sundaresan, retired bank employee from Chennai.

“The way I see it, just like how film star Pawan Kalyan is getting criticized in Andhra Pradesh, Rajini will get the same. Pawan is being mocked that he is the puppet of BJP and is doing things as per their directions. Eventually, that would be the fate of Rajini I feel.” – Azhagappan, real estate businessman from Chennai.

“All this while, Rajini was known for his charity acts, spiritual image, simplicity and humble approach towards everything. That way, emotionally he became very close to the people of Tamil Nadu but with politics he will be distanced by many” – Thiagarajan, Restaurant owner in Coimbatore.

“Being a Rajini fan myself, I would have been happy if he had made his entry into politics about a decade ago but now I don’t think so. Practically speaking, Rajini has his own age related issues. So, health-wise is it necessary?” – Gopi Krishnan, IT Employee from Chennai.

“There is a stark difference between politics and cinema. It is true that charisma worked in Tamil Nadu during the time of MGR and Jayalalithaa but not anymore. Along with charisma, people expect politicians to have a vision. If Rajini wants to make his mark, he must be a strong visionary with determined approach.” – Deepak Prasanna Kumar, Bank Employee from Chennai.

“Nobody is really wanting Rajini sir to come into politics but he is coming with his own interest only” – Mohana Vamsi, ERP Professional from Madurai.
