Every small discovery or invention in India cannot see the world without the blessings of local politicians. But when some big things those save mankind are discovered, they need to break all the shackles and emerge as saviours of the world.
We are talking about Apophis, an asteroid that is about to hit the Earth in 2036. As the scientists declared, it wipes out entire life on Earth and hence suggested many methods to demolish it. But the methods are vey expensive. Wheareas, the students at Gitam University, Hyderabad campus have designed a model that is very economical.
The engineering students S. Sai, M. Sai Prakash Reddy, N. Sateesh Kumar, L. Rohith Kumar Reddy and A. Giridhar Reddy say, “Focused solar energy to change the mass of asteroid. Eventually it is exposed to high temperature solar radiation, produced by specially designed concentrators, which help in increasing the speed of rotation of the asteroid. This changes its path through which we can prevent it from colliding with the Earth."
That is really interesting and someone needs to propose it to NASA. The Telugus living in USA can do something in this matter in the interest of mankind and the pride of Telugus.
