‘Missing’ wife of techie surfaces to tell her story

Hyderabad: Ten days after a software engineer Phani Kiran lodged a complaint with the police that his wife Soumya had gone missing and suspected that actor Vallabha could have kidnapped her, something dramatic happened at the Kukatpally police station on Tuesday.

Vallabha and Soumya, who showed up at the police station, declared that they got married last year itself. Soumya said since her parents had pressurised her, she got married to Phani Kiran against her wishes recently.

Soumya told the police that she had left Phani Kiran on her own to live with Vallabha.

The couple said that since there was no way by which they could hide their relationship anymore, they decided to make it public.

Vallabha is the son of well-known film producer K S Rama Rao. Though Vallabha made his debut in Tollywood with ‘Evare...Athagadu’ a few years ago, he could not stabilise as a hero. According to Kukatpally inspector V Surender Reddy, Vallabha and Soumya came to the police station at around 2 pm. They wanted the police to record Soumya’s statement “as many lies were being circulated against Vallabha”. Soumya had gone missing from April 11 and her husband Phani Kumar told the police she went missing and alleged that Vallabha could have been behind this. Soumya worked for Vallabha in his recording studio.

“Soumya said that she had got married to Vallabha in 2007, much before she was married off to Phani Kiran. She also said that she has been living with Vallabha in the city as his wife and that nobody should have any objection to it,” the inspector said.

According to the statement made by Soumya, she got married to Vallabha at a temple in Mahbubnagar district last year. Soumya’s parents objected to the marriage and asked her to get married to Phani Kiran in March 2008.

The Kukatpally police said that after Soumya records her statement in front of a magistrate, a decision will be taken on whether they will go ahead and act on the complaint made by Phani Kumar.
