This seems to be a new trend in media values. It is known that media houses wish to report any news in a competitive spirit in as aggressive a way as possible.
But surprisingly, the news about AP CM writing a letter to the Supreme Court Chief Justice complaining about the state High Court Justice is not covered prominently. The news is not seen on the banners of Eenadu and AndhraJyothy. This shows the true colors of a section of media.
On the other hand the news was prominently covered by Namaste Telangana, the news daily that is more confined to the state of Telangana. Almost all the English dailies have also given importance to this news. Even Prajasakti and Andhra Prabha also covered it with importance.
But the so-called yellow media is silent on this, reminding the popular saying, "The cat drinks milk with closed eyes and assumes that no one else is noticing it". Yes, the yellow media feels that if it doesn't cover any news nobody in the nation will know.
But right from Rajdeep Sardesai to Prashant Bhushan, almost every bigwig in the media and judiciary have tweeted about this.
Rajdeep Sardesai tweeted: "Big story is brewing in Andhra: a CM has directly accused the next SC chief justice’s family of corruption. So far there has been a strange HC gag order on reporting this story! Now @ysjagan seems to have decided to take the battle to the public and the SC! Watch this space!"
Prashant Bhushan, the popular lawyer in public interest lawyer wrote: "In a letter to CJI S.S. Bobde, AP CM Jagan Reddy accused Justice NV Ramana of corruption and of conspiring against his government on behalf of TDP leader Chandra Babu Naidu" The allegations are serious and certainly require a quick, credible and thorough probe".
Similarly Utkarsh Anand, the CNNNews18 legal editor has posted on twitter: #AndhraPradesh CM @ysjagan has written to #CJI SA Bobde, raising questions over neutrality of High Court in letting a free & fair probe continue against ex-CM @ncbn. Letter also states next #CJI in line, Justice NV Ramana, is influencing the roster in HC as he is close to @ncbn".
So, on a whole, the true yellow color of some sections of the media is openly exposed with this episode.
