To give an opportunity to NRIs to pay back to their alma mater as well as their native place, the State government has decided to facilitate their participation in the ambitious ‘Mana Ooru-Mana Badi’ in rural areas and ‘Mana Basthi-Mana Badi’ in urban areas.
While the guidelines have been already issued, sensitisation and awareness programmes will be held for Telangana NRIs to guide them in this regard, Said Mahesh Bigala.
In a first such initiative, IT and Industries Minister K T Rama Rao along with Education Minister P Sabitha Indra Reddy , Mahesh Bigala, TRS NRI Coordinator will participate in a virtual conference with Telangana NRIs on February 12 at 8:30 am (IST)/February 11 at 10:00 pm (EST)/7:00 pm (PST) thru Zoom Call and Telecasted Live on TV ASIA Telugu.
They will explain and guide the NRIs to facilitate their active participation in the programme in association with the State government.
Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao announced the novel programme with the objective of improving the infrastructure and quality of education in government schools as well as make English medium available for students in government schools. The State government is planning to take up the flagship programme with a budget of Rs 7,289.54 crore in three phases over next three years.
Nearly 19.84 lakh students in 26,065 government schools will benefit from the programme. During the current academic year, the scheme will be launched in 35 per cent (9,123) of total schools covering 65 per cent (around 13 lakh) of students in the first phase.
TRS NRI wing coordinator Mahesh Bigala said as part of the pilot project, around 12 works pertaining to digital education, potable drinking water, modernisation of toilets, cent per cent electrification, furniture, construction of new classrooms, compound walls, kitchens and dining halls, will be taken up. In case of NRIs donating Rs 10 lakh for the cause, one class room will be renamed after their loved ones.
