When actress-turned-YSR Congress party MLA R K Roja was suspended from Andhra Pradesh assembly for a period of one year, it triggered a wider debate over her other activities. There were reports that the yellow lobby had conspired to attack her, not only politically, but also her financial roots.
Roja was earning a few lakh of rupees per month by anchoring the reality show Jabardast in a television channel which is closer to Telugu Desam Party leadership.
There was a talk that the TDP lobby was trying to sack her out of the programme, so that she would financially weak. The ultimate objective of this lobby was to create insecurity feeling for her and make her quit the YSR Congress party.
However, it is now evident that the efforts of this yellow lobby did not yield any results. Speaking at a function recently, Roja said she was anchoring Jabardast programme as she felt it was an entertaining programme which she was enjoying thoroughly. Thereby, she gave a clarity that she was not going to step down from the programme.
So, where did the yellow lobby fail? Though the channel is pro-TDP, the producers of Jabardast are not. It is being produced by the daughter of noted film producer Mallemala Shyamprasad Reddy.
His family is closer to Roja; and that is precisely, the producers did not succumb to the pressure tactics of the TDP lobby, though it had tried to use its clout with the channel management to remove her. And Roja is continuing as Jabardast anchor!
