Surprising as it might sound, Telangana is able to get quick response from the Centre when compared to its neighbouring Andhra Pradesh with regard to release of funds. This is being admitted by none other than Andhra government leaders, of course off the record.
According to them, officials at the Centre are responding positively to the requests of the Telangana instantaneously, whereas leaders from Andhra were made to run from pillar to post to get approvals or funds for any project.
Reason: Telangana ministers or officials have better language skills – they can communicate with the officials in Delhi in Hindi and English, whereas their AP counterparts are not able to do so.
The other day, Harish Rao went to New Delhi and met Water Resources Minister Uma Bharati and other officials of her department. He sought for liberal assistance for Mission Kakatiya programme, aimed at restoring defunct tanks. He gave the presentation entirely in Hindi and that impressed the officials. They instantly granted Rs 2,500 crore, besides another Rs 400 crore for other projects in backward districts. They also gave positive response to the projects being constructed on Krishna river in Mahbubnagar.
But, his Andhra counterpart Devineni Umamaheshwar Rao did not get the same kind of response from the officials for the projects in AP, because they could not communicate properly. So, that’s the difference!
