What Is Vundavalli Up To?

Strange are the ways of former Rajahmundry MP Vundavalli Arun Kumar. No doubt, he is a very intellectual leader, but one fails to understand which side he is taking these days.

After he came out of the Congress party following the bifurcation of erstwhile united Andhra Pradesh, Vundavalli has not joined any other party. Of late, there were indications that he might join YSR Congress party, headed by Y S Jaganmohan Reddy, after the latter called on Vundavalli in Rajahmundry a couple of months ago.

But on seeing his statements made in a television channel on Sunday, one wonders what Vundavalli’s political plans are. He declared that the Congress party has no future in Andhra Pradesh and it cannot think of regaining its existence even after two decades. It shows that Vundavalli has no plans to return to the Congress.

Since he is very harsh in attacking chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu, he will definitely not join the TDP. At the same time, he made some sharp comments against the BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi for neglecting the special category status issue; so, he would not join the BJP.

What about YSR Congress party? Here again, Vundavalli makes confusing statements.

“If Jagan becomes the chief minister, I will be the first person to feel happy. After all, I was very close to his father Y S Rajasekhar Reddy. Naturally, I will be happy if his son becomes the CM,” he said.

In the same breath, he said the YSR Congress party’s position in Andhra Pradesh was not very hopeful.

“It has miserably failed as an Opposition party in exposing the TDP government’s failures,” he said. Asked whether he would give advice to Jagan when required, Vundavalli said: “I am not such a great intellectual to give advice to a leader like Jagan,” he said.

So, what is Vundavalli up to?
