Venkaiah Praises KCR Before Naidu!

Now that he is no more a Bharatiya Janata Party leader and a Central minister, Vice President of India M Venkaiah Naidu does not have any obligation to help his friend – Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu.

Moreover, the BJP, too, is not very much keen on continuing the alliance with the Telugu Desam Party. So, Venkaiah doesn’t have the need to show any soft corner towards Naidu and he doesn’t need to hesitate to take pot shots at the chief minister if required.

On Tuesday, Venkaiah gave a soft rap on the head of Naidu by pointing out his over-emphasis on promoting English at the cost of mother tongue Telugu.

He told Naidu at a meeting in Amaravati that the Andhra government should make Telugu a compulsory subject in all the schools and colleges, so that students do not forget their mother tongue in their eagerness to learn English.

“I must appreciate the initiative taken by Telangana chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao in this regard. He has made Telugu compulsory for obtaining government jobs.

He said it was mandatory for everybody to learn Telugu to write the public service commission examinations. Andhra Pradesh should also emulate Telangana in this regard and make Telugu compulsory to get the government job,” Venkaiah said.

He said Naidu should put a condition in all the schools for the students to learn Telugu.

“There is nothing wrong in learning other languages, but one should not forget the mother tongue,” Venkaiah said, much to the irritation of the TDP chief.
