Top Official In KCR Office To Sue Outlook Mag!

IAS officer Smitha Sabharwal, Secretary to Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao on Tuesday sent legal notice to popular English weekly magazine Outlook for depicting her in a cheap manner.

The magazine carried a story and an illustration depicting Smita Sabharwal walking on a ramp dressed in jeans and frilly tops.

It also shows KCR holding a video camera, while two politicians are seen sitting and enjoying the catwalk, winking with a sexist smile at the officer.

The story describes Smita as an “eye candy” who is present at all meetings and as someone, who makes a fashion statement with her lovely saris. It also says Smita Sabharwal knows when exactly the CM would arrive to and leave the office.

On Tuesday, Smita sent a legal notice to the magazine for carrying the sexist story. She slammed the magazine for the article which was "distasteful, cheap and titillating."

The legal notice says the IAS officer was "utterly flabbergasted, shell shocked, angry and extremely disturbed by the article."

Smitha demanded a detailed public apology through Outlook that is "visible and of the same dimensions and verbiage as the frivolous and vexatious article that you seem to think is satirical."

A 15 day notice has been sent to Outlook to act failing which she threatened to file civil and criminal suit against the magazine including defamation, damages and criminal action.

Immediately, Outlook removed the illustration and but retained the story with headline “No Boring Babu.”
