TDP-BJP combine sweeps Kakinada polls

TDP-BJP combine sweeps Kakinada polls

The results of the Kakinada Municipal Corporation elections, counting for which is taking place on Friday, are on the expected lines, with the Telugu Desam Party-Bharatiya Janata Party combine sweeping the polls with over two-thirds majority.

Out of 48 divisions that went to polls in KMC, the TDP-BJP combine won 29 out of 42 seats, for which the counting was completed till now.

The YSR Congress party has bagged nine seats till now. While the Congress expectedly drew a blank, three independents gave a rude shock to the main parties by winning the divisions with a big margin.

Naturally, the TDP leaders have started claiming it as a big victory and a referendum on the performance of the three-year old TDP government headed by N Chandrababu Naidu.

The YSRC leaders have not made any comment so far.
