Significant But Lacking In Credibility

Rahul Gandhi has once again written a letter to PM Modi saying that the latter should announce special status to Andhra Pradesh during his visit to Amaravathi.

“Since you are visiting Andhra Pradesh to lay the foundation stone for its new capital Amaravati, I would like to urgently request you to use this opportunity to grant special category status and announce a time-frame for the fulfillment of the commitments made in the Andhra Pradesh Reorganization Act,” Gandhi wrote in the letter.

He further added, “I have been to Andhra Pradesh twice over the last year. Wherever I went, I could sense the severe disappointment and pain the people were in due to the Centre's failure to honour its commitments. Today the state is facing a huge revenue deficit and development initiatives are at a virtual standstill. Despite the obvious need, the Centre has still not acted to extend support.”

Definitely, Rahul Gandhi’s letter would put the BJP on a back foot as well as the TDP. However, it is still doubtful whether Rahul genuinely has the interests of AP at heart.

Was it not the Congress which went against the wishes of the people of AP and divided the State in the first place?

So, why this drama now about the welfare of the people and special status?

It’s like stabbing a person and then complaining that the victim is not receiving medical attention.
