Revanth takes U-turn on quitting TDP!

Telangana Telugu Desam Party working president A Revanth Reddy on Sunday took a sudden U-turn on the reports of his plan to resign from the TDP and join the Congress party.

Revanth, who had a telephonic conversation with party president N Chandrababu Naidu from Dubai in the morning, said there was no truth in the media reports that he was quitting the TDP.

“I am not joining any party now and there is no question of resigning from the TDP. It is all media creation,” he said.

He called upon his followers not to take any hasty decisions based on media reports.

“Let Naidu come from his foreign tour. I will give a detailed explanation to him on the recent developments in the party,” he said.

Revanth, however, said there was no question of any compromise with the Telangana Rashtra Samithi.

“My fight with the TRS will continue and there is no question of going back on it,” he said.

Political observers wonder whether Revanth has really taken a U-turn or it is a strategic move to keep his flock together.

It was an open secret that he had met the top leaders of the Congress high command in Delhi recently and also the local Congress leaders like D K Aruna and V Hanumantha Rao, who had confirmed the talks.

Even the Telangana TDP leaders, after the recent meeting, told the media that Revanth had defended his meetings with Rahul Gandhi and other senior leaders.

Yet, Revanth is now trying to create the impression that he is not quitting the TDP. Apparently, he has realised that if he quits the TDP on his own, his stakes in the Congress party will come down.

May be, he will wait for Naidu to take a decision and then come out of the TDP.
