Naidu's Gimmicks Intact

Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu knows fully well that Andhra Pradesh will not be given a special status by the Center, yet he has to try and convince the people of his State that he is seriously trying for it. Hence, he is resorting to his usual gimmicks.

He has apparently called up Prime Minister Narendra Modi who gave him an appointment after August 15th.

He also spoke to Nirmala Seetharaman, Venkayya Naidu, Rajnath Singh and Amit Shah over the phone and reiterated his demand for a special status to Andhra Pradesh.

The whole thing sounds a bit amusing. If Naidu calls up central Ministers over the phone and asks them for a special status, will they give it to him over the phone?

It is clearly an exercise designed to appease public anger and nothing else.
