Naidu Wants To Defer Civic Polls?

Telugu Desam Party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu is said to be contemplating postponement of elections to various municipal corporations and municipalities in the state.

Reason: Naidu is learnt to have received intelligence inputs that if elections are held now, the result would be totally against the TDP, because of the strong sentiment prevailing among the people with regard to special category status.

Apparently, the YSR Congress party, supported by the Congress, has been making intensive brainwashing of the people with regard to special category status, while the TDP is forced to go on the defensive.

Initially, Naidu wanted to go ahead with the municipal elections as per the schedule this year end. However, the situation now appears to be not conducive for the polls. So, he wants to get them postponed at least by six months.

In the meantime, he thinks the special category status issue will subside and the government would come out with a scheme that would attract the urban voters.

Will that work? Let us see!
