Naidu not keen on RS seat to Mothkupalli?

Naidu not keen on RS seat to Mothkupalli?

Telugu Desam Party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu is an out and out politician. Every decision that he takes has a political motive behind it and he does not take any step that does not fetch him political benefit.

He seems to be adopting the same strategy with regard to senior TDP leader and former minister Mothkupalli Narasimhulu.

After the bifurcation of the state, Naidu had promised him to see that he would get Governor post. He did take up the issue with the Centre a couple of times as he wanted to claim that he had got a Governor post to a Dalit leader.

But when the Centre ignored his request, he did not pursue it seriously as he thought Mothkupalli is a spent force and he won’t get any big political mileage. After the recent appointment of new Governors, it was evident that the Modi government ignored Mothkupalli.

Now, the senior TDP leader is after Naidu asking for at least Rajya Sabha ticket. He said he would wait till April next year, when the Rajya Sabha elections are due. After that, he might take his own decision on future course of action.

But it is learnt Naidu has is not keen on entertaining Mothkupalli request. First, the TDP is not a big force in Telangana and does not have enough strength to send Mothkupalli to Rajya Sabha. He cannot be accommodated from Andhra because it will anger Andhra leaders.

Secondly, there is no additional benefit to the TDP, if Mothkupalli is given the RS ticket. And finally, even if he quits the TDP to join the TRS or BJP, there is no additional loss to the TDP in Telangana.

So, Naidu has decided to ignore Mothkupalli!
