Naidu Keeps Suspense On TTD Chief!

Naidu Keeps Suspense On TTD Chief!

Telugu Desam Party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu is known for taking firm decisions. But these days, he seems to be hesitating to take political decisions, may be out of confusion or lack of confidence over his own decisions.

Take for example, the decision on appointment of the chairman of the prestigious Tiruamala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) trust board.

The post has been lying vacant for quite some time, but Naidu was not able to take any decision.

While he firmly ruled out the appointment of Narsaraopet MP Rayapati Sambasiva Rao in the post, there was a talk that he might appoint his brother-in-law and TDP politburo member Nandamuri Harikrishna as the TTD chief. But he could not take any decision.

After a lot of dilly dallying, Naidu is learnt to have chosen T M Ravi Shankar, an industrialist from Madanapalli in Chittoor district, for the post.

The decision was even conveyed to him and Ravi Shankar even celebrated his appointment with his friends. But, there was no official communication from the government in this regard and finally, it turned out to be a big disappointment for the industrialist.

The latest talk was that Putta Ravi Kumar Yadav, a senior TDP leader from Mydukuru assembly constituency in Kadapa district was picked up as the TTD chief.

Lot of reasoning was given for his selection – that he is a BC and a strong leader in Kadapa, besides being the close relative of finance minister Yanamala Ramakrishnudu.

Interestingly, Yadav also got unofficial confirmation from the party sources as well as the government. And he addressed a press conference on Thursday to share his happiness and thank Naidu for reposing faith in him.

However, his joy was short lived as there were no orders from the government till late in the night. When he made enquiries with the Chief Minister’s Office and the TTD, he came to know that the government was yet to take a decision in this regard.

Apparently, Naidu got into second thoughts on Yadav, as he does not want to lose a strong candidate for Mydukur seat in the next elections. Yadav is presently in-charge of Mydukuru and is the likely candidate of the TDP in the next elections.
