Naidu back-stabbed BJP in Kakinada?

Naidu back-stabbed BJP in Kakinada?

The Bharatiya Janata Party in Andhra Pradesh is fretting and fuming at its alliance partner Telugu Desam Party for the latter’s great betrayal in the ensuing Kakinada Municipal Corporation elections.

The BJP leaders are extremely unhappy with the way the TDP leadership ditched them by going back on its promise of allotting a good number of seats in the corporation elections.

They are now warning that the TDP would have to pay a heavy price for this back-stabbing in the Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation elections and also 2019 general elections.

The BJP leaders were terribly upset with the allotment of just nine divisions out of 48 in Kakinada municipal corporation elections, while the TDP has kept the remaining 39 seats.

Even this meagre number was allotted after hectic deliberations between the senior leaders of the TDP and the BJP.

However, the BJP leaders were shocked when the TDP has fielded candidates even in the nine seats allotted to the BJP.

Though the TDP leadership says those who filed papers in the BJP seats were not official candidates and could be rebels, the BJP leadership suspects that the TDP is indulging in foul play.

Inquiries revealed that local TDP MLA Venkateswara Rao (Kondababu) was behind the rebel candidates.

Senior BJP MLA B Vishnu Kumar Raju said the BJP never expected that the TDP leaders would go back on their word and an understanding agreed upon for this elections.

He said that he had spoken to Kala Venkata Rao, Yanamala Ramakrishnudu and other senior leaders on the issue but he never got a concrete assurance from them.

The violation of a pact for Kakinada corporation elections will have a serious impact on the alliance, he said.
