Media mania: Charmee outsmarted Mudragada!

The much-publicised and hyped “Chalo Amaravati” padayatra by former minister and Kapu strongman Mudragada Padmanabham from his house in Kirlampudi village in East Godavari district on Wednesday has turned out to be a flop show as it did not evoke much enthusiasm from people across the state.

Reason: the electronic media, which Mudragada expected would give wide coverage to his padayatra evoking strong anti-establishment sentiment all over the state, largely ignored him.

Instead, the channels focussed mostly on the interrogation of actress Charmee by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) of the Telangana excise and prohibition enforcement department in connection with her alleged links with drug peddlers.

All through the day, the channels were more interested in covering Charmee rather than Mudragada.

Only during the regular newsbreaks, they covered Mudragada episode and his arrest.

Even the scrolling of the news with regard to his house arrest was given less prominence.

That is precisely why Mudragada also did not make much noise on Wednesday and said he would make an attempt again on Thursday, hoping that the media would return to him after the Charmee episode.

But he was disappointed on Thursday, too, as the media cared a little for him and the police said he would be placed under the house arrest till August 2.

So, no media, no politics!
