Kodandaram Not To Contest Polls?

Telangana Joint Action Committee chairman M Kodandaram has made his intentions clear about launching a political party to tackle the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi sooner or later.

According to sources close to Kodandaram, he has finalised two or three names for his proposed party – Praja Telangana Party or Prajaswamika Telangana Party or Jana Telangana Party.

After taking the consent of all the TJAC members, he would apply for the registration of one of them, sources said.

Interestingly, Kodandadram reportedly told his colleagues in TJAC that he is not going to contest the elections, but would only lead the campaign across the length and breadth of Telangana.

“If I contest elections from any assembly constituency, I will be confined to only that constituency. I will rather tour the entire state to campaign for the party,” he reportedly told them.

The TJAC would also hold consultations with other like-minded parties to form a broader coalition to fight against the TRS.

He is likely to rope in the Congress, the CPI and other people’s organisations to form the coalition. Another social organisation T-Mass headed by revolutionary singer Gaddar, is also willing to join the coalition provided there is no Congress party.

Some disgruntled TRS leaders who are not happy with the party leadership are said to be in touch with the TJAC, sources said.
